Wander and Wonder: A Forest Therapy Experience
September 27 @ 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM CDT
$25.00
Join us for a Forest Bathing therapy experience at the Gardens!
What is Forest Bathing, you ask? The term refers simply to immersing yourself in the atmosphere of the forest. It’s about spending time in the forest and actually being aware of, but most importantly, curious about your surroundings. It’s about spending intentional time with nature, reconnecting with ourselves. Similar to mindfulness, forest bathing asks us to be in touch with present-moment experiences in a deeper way.
Led by Lorraine Fitzgerald, a certified Forest and Nature Therapy Guide and the owner of Sandy Pause Yoga. The morning session of Wander and Wonder is available for anyone 18+. Admission cost is $25.
What to bring: It is recommended that you wear long pants, socks, and closed-toed shoes (sneakers or hiking boots) plus insect repellent and sunscreen. Bring a hat and/or sunglasses as well as a water bottle that you can bring with you on the walk or leave in your car. If there is a chance of rain, a light raincoat and/or umbrella is always a good idea. If you have a sit-upon (small outdoor cushion, towel or other item to sit on) to use to sit on the ground, you can bring that as well, and you’ll also be provided one to use during your walk.
Terrain to expect: Unpaved forest trails featuring uneven terrain and mild changes in elevation.
Personal safety: If you have allergies to specific plants or insects, and/or if you have a prescription for an EpiPen, please bring what you would need in case of an emergency.
